Abstract

|
PTH, a major calcium regulating hormone, is known to stimulate bone resorption. Recently, many evidences have suggested that this hormone may also contribute bone forming process and collagen synthesis. However, the fun. tion of each osteogenic cells has not been fully understoodThe cellular level interaction, especially between osteoblast and osteoclast, has not been documented. This inter. action and the subsequent changes of calcium homeostasis and bone formation and resorption are largely influenced by the stz¢¥us of PTH, 1,25 (OH)2 cholecalciferol and calcitonin. Further study in relation to bone growth and bone remodeling system is needed. This report has examined the role of bone cells, horomones and mineral metabolism and the mechanism of PTH action.
